What is Quartersawn White Oak?

QUARTERSAWN WHITE OAK WOOD is one of two wood speices used in the first Mission Style Furniture made. The another is cherry wood.
A White Oak log is quartered lengthwise and sawn parallel to the rays
(the lines that run out from the center of the log). This sawing method produces straight grain, along with rays and wavy grain patterns.
